A 23-year-old man from Oshawa now faces serious charges after a shooting in Peterborough earlier this month. Chevron “Chevy” Millwood was apprehended following a coordinated search by Peterborough and Durham Regional Police, bringing investigators closer to resolving a violent crime that shook the city.
Millwood was already under strict court orders, prohibited from possessing any weapons for a decade, and barred for life from owning prohibited or restricted firearms. Despite these restrictions, police allege he was found with a loaded gun during his arrest at a residence in Oshawa.
The investigation began on March 8th, when officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment on George Street North. The incident quickly revealed a disturbing connection to the local drug subculture and a violent robbery targeting a Peterborough couple.
During the robbery, a physical altercation erupted, culminating in a 39-year-old woman being shot. The severity of her injuries necessitated immediate transport to a Toronto hospital for critical care. A 47-year-old man present during the incident was thankfully unharmed.
Millwood is now charged with two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, alongside charges of robbery with a firearm and numerous weapons offenses. Authorities believe he was the individual who discharged the weapon during the attack.
Peterborough Police Chief Stuart Betts praised the dedication of his investigative team, highlighting the long hours and meticulous work that led to Millwood’s arrest. He emphasized the importance of keeping this suspect in custody, given his prior conviction for armed robbery involving a firearm.
The search continues for a second suspect described as a slender Black male, last seen wearing a black jacket, grey hoodie, grey toque, grey backpack, and black shoes with distinctive blue soles. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Investigators are actively seeking leads and encourage the public to contact Peterborough Police or Crime Stoppers with any information that could aid in the apprehension of the remaining suspect and bring complete closure to this case.
