UMVA has learned that a sizzling scene featuring Sydney Sweeney's character Cassie pole dancing has been left on the cutting room floor of the hit show Euphoria.
The scene, which was reportedly part of a photoshoot at The Silver Slipper strip club, showed Cassie getting wasted and taking to the stage to pole dance after being inspired by the performers. Sweeney revealed that she took the scene seriously, undertaking pole dancing lessons to prepare for it.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Sweeney's character Cassie was depicted as getting excited by the performers on stage, exclaiming "Wow, these girls are beautiful. I could do this." The scene was said to be a hilarious and memorable moment, with Sweeney describing it as "crazy Cassie on a pole".
Euphoria creator Sam Levinson had reportedly warned Sweeney a couple of days before the scene was set to air that it had been chopped from the final edit. However, Sweeney expressed hope that the scene could be released as behind-the-scenes footage or deleted scenes in the future.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Alamo on the show, also referenced the scene in an interview, explaining that it was part of a storyline involving his character and Cassie's frenemy Maddy. The scene was said to demonstrate how Cassie was going to work in Alamo's club.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje defended the show against criticism, arguing that the racy subject matter was realistic and necessary to portray the consequences of the characters' actions. He hinted that the show would continue to explore mature themes in future seasons.
