COSTCO BEDS ARE FALLING APART—And HURTING People!

COSTCO BEDS ARE FALLING APART—And HURTING People!

A quiet night’s sleep turned potentially dangerous for some Costco shoppers. A recall has been issued for specific canopy bed frames sold across Canada and the United States, triggered by unsettling reports of collapsing canopies and resulting injuries.

The manufacturer, Samson International, is acting swiftly to address the issue, focusing on their Bellevue and Oaklynn models – both king and queen sizes – purchased within a recent timeframe, from October 2024 to February 2026. This isn’t a matter of minor inconvenience; the concern centers around structural integrity and the risk of serious harm.

The core of the problem lies in the canopy beams. Samson International discovered that when these beds are moved *after* assembly, the beams can unexpectedly collapse. This creates a significant impact hazard, potentially leading to injuries for anyone nearby.

While Canadian consumers have been fortunate to avoid reported incidents thus far, the situation in the United States paints a more concerning picture. Samson has received five reports of injuries stemming from falling canopy beams.

The injuries reported weren’t minor. Four individuals suffered contusions to the head and shoulder, highlighting the force involved in these collapses. The potential for more severe harm is what prompted this urgent recall.

If you purchased an Oaklynn Canopy Bed through Costco.ca, check your item number. King size beds affected carry item number 1812427 and model number M24107240. Queen size beds have item number 1812424 and model number M24107230.

Locating the model number is straightforward. It’s printed on a manufacturing label inside the bed frame, on the right side when viewed from the foot of the bed. This simple check could prevent a dangerous situation.

The most crucial step is to *stop moving the bed*. Samson International is offering a free repair, involving the installation of four metal brackets and mounting hardware. This will permanently secure the canopy frame to the bed posts, eliminating the collapse risk.

Contact Samson International directly to arrange for this free repair. Don’t delay – this isn’t a problem that will resolve itself. Protecting yourself and your family requires immediate action.
