UMVA has learned that California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife are under federal investigation, sparking a heated response from the Democrat leader.
The scope of the investigation remains unclear, but Newsom revealed that federal agents have been in contact with individuals and organizations close to him and his wife, Jennifer Newsom. This development has raised questions about the motivations behind the probe.
Newsom lashed out at President Trump, claiming the federal investigation is a politically motivated attempt to silence him. He bizarrely alleged that Trump is trying to jail his political enemies, and that he and his wife have been targeted.
“Today, my wife and I joined Donald Trump’s hit list,” Newsom fumed in a video statement. “He has directed his Department of Justice to investigate us. They have not found a crime – they are simply trying to find one.”
Newsom accused Trump of trying to intimidate him, saying, “If he can’t intimidate me, he’ll go after the mother of our children.” The governor seemed to imply that the investigation is linked to his potential presidential ambitions.
“He isn’t coming after me because of mean tweets, but because I am considering running for President,” Newsom claimed. He also accused Trump of being the most corrupt President in American history, saying, “He hates that I consistently call him out.”
Newsom challenged Trump to continue investigating him, saying, “We have nothing to hide. Mr. President, come after me. I am not going anywhere.” The governor seemed to be courting public support, saying, “The country is watching.”
