ATTACK ON JUSTICE: Radical Lawyer CRASHES & BURNS!

A New Orleans attorney known for defending individuals against police actions now faces serious federal charges. Tanzanika Ruffin was indicted on Friday, accused of a scheme that allegedly defrauded a client’s family out of a quarter of a million dollars.

The indictment alleges Ruffin fabricated a story about compensating a New Orleans Police Department officer for nonexistent injuries. She reportedly convinced the family they needed to pay for these fabricated harms, all while falsely claiming a confidential agreement was in place with the District Attorney’s office and the officer.

This wasn’t an isolated incident of questionable conduct. Over two decades ago, Ruffin was terminated from her position as an assistant district attorney following allegations of extortion. While the DA’s office later dismissed those allegations, her law license was temporarily suspended as a result.

According to the Justice Department, Ruffin didn’t use the $250,000 to settle any claims with the officer. Instead, the funds were allegedly diverted to personal expenses, fueling a lavish lifestyle that included vacations, jewelry, and other discretionary purchases.

The alleged deception involved a fabricated “Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement” – a document Ruffin claimed existed to enforce secrecy around a supposed financial settlement. Investigators found no evidence of such an agreement, revealing the entire premise as a carefully constructed falsehood.

If convicted of wire fraud, Ruffin could face a substantial prison sentence. The maximum penalty is twenty years of imprisonment, along with potential fines and a period of supervised release. A mandatory special assessment fee would also be imposed.

The case raises serious questions about trust and accountability within the legal system. It highlights the potential for abuse of power and the devastating consequences for those who fall victim to such schemes.
