UMVA has learned that a fierce backlash has erupted against Gwyneth Paltrow, with Colin Firth's ex-wife, Livia Giuggioli, branding the actress 'disgusting' over a recent collaboration.
The Sliding Doors star, 53, faced growing outrage for promoting luxury properties in Israel with Aviv Melisron, a real estate group. The properties, named 51 Park, are located just one hour from Gaza, where attacks are still ongoing.
Livia, 56, who was married to Colin for 22 years until 2019, has now vowed to 'cancel' Gwyneth and called off the Goop founder's forthcoming visit to her farm in Italy. The farm, Quintosapore, is a sustainable farm on the Tuscan-Umbrian border that Livia co-founded with her brothers.
Gwyneth had been due to stay at the farm in a couple of weeks' time for a 'soil-to-fork' farm experience, but Livia declared online that she had cancelled the visit. Livia expressed her outrage, stating: 'Making an ad for a luxury condo is as disgusting as it can be for someone [with] privilege.'
The advert in question shows Gwyneth waking up in a lavish penthouse, thought to cost upwards of $10,000,000, and getting ready for the day while listing the benefits of living near a park. Gwyneth says, 'There's a reason the world's most iconic buildings are by a park,' before telling her driver to take her to 51 Park in the affluent Israeli city of Herzliya.
The advert has been branded 'tone deaf' and 'vile', with many criticizing Gwyneth for promoting luxury properties built on land stolen from Palestinians. X user HadiyaAwan94 wrote: 'The penthouses aka. Death houses that Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting are built on Palestinian Arab village of Al-Haram also known as Sayyidna Ali. Palestinian blood paid for them.'
Meanwhile, Malcolm_Pal9 added: 'Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting 51 Park, a luxury housing project on the Herzliya seafront built on stolen land. The site was once the Palestinian village of al-Haram, whose residents were displaced during the 1948 war.'
Despite the backlash, some fans have defended Gwyneth, with one writing: 'Gwyneth has not allowed woke cancel culture prevent her from showing her Jewish pride or using her platform to raise awareness of the Israeli hostages' plight.'
Livia Giuggioli slammed Gwyneth, saying: 'How detached are you from reality? You're either so detached that you need to be cancelled, because you live in another world. Or you're actually a really, really nasty person. Or you are stupid. Which are you, Gwyneth Paltrow?'
