The Department of Public Works and Highways expects to finish the second phase of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue rehabilitation by next year and is nearing the award of initial contract packages for the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge.
Public Works Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon said the rehabilitation is being carried out lane by lane to minimize traffic disruption.
The project began in December under a revised two-phase plan and is implemented one lane at a time. The first phase was completed in January.
The P6-billion rehabilitation, reduced from an original P17-billion estimate, includes asphalt overlay on weekdays and combined overlay and reblocking of one lane per direction on weekends during the second phase.
Dizon said the department expects to award contract packages soon for the 32.15-kilometer Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge as bidding continues.
The $3.91-billion bridge, co-financed by the Asian Development Bank, will link Bataan and Cavite to strengthen regional connectivity and economic activity.
