Soracom Unveils AI-Powered IoT Project Execution Platform

Soracom has introduced Soracom Agent, a technology-preview AI agent designed to support connected-product teams from requirements definition through live operations.

The launch marks a significant shift in the company's AI strategy, moving beyond querying IoT data and automating workflows into direct assistance with the work of building and running IoT deployments.

IoT projects rarely fail due to a single missing dashboard; instead, the friction comes from the long chain of decisions between an initial connected-product concept and a fleet in the field, including connectivity design, cloud integration, device provisioning, operational monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Soracom Moves IoT AI From Analytics to Project Execution With New Agent

Soracom Agent is positioned as a companion for teams working across requirements, design, development, and operations, available now as a technology preview.

The agent builds on Soracom's existing AI foundation, which includes Soracom Query, a natural language question-answering tool, and Soracom Flux, a low-code IoT application builder.

Soracom Agent operates on the project work level, interacting with Soracom services through APIs, CLIs, and MCP interfaces, and carrying project memory to develop its understanding of a deployment as it progresses.

The agent's container model ensures customer data remains secure and under their control, retaining context about devices, network behavior, application logic, and operational procedures.

Enterprise IoT teams will need to treat the agent's retained context as part of their operational knowledge base, with the same governance discipline applied to credentials, device inventories, and runbooks.

The technology preview status means Soracom Agent is an early platform capability rather than a mature product category, with commercial packaging, performance metrics, or deployment results not yet available.

The implications for the IoT ecosystem are significant, with OEMs, system integrators, and connectivity providers all benefiting from the agent's ability to interact with platform services and retain project context.
