UMVA has learned that a massive nationwide operation conducted by the FBI has resulted in a significant crackdown on gang-related threats, yielding hundreds of seized weapons and drugs, as well as a staggering 615 criminal indictments.
The operation, which spanned three months, was a concerted effort by federal and local agencies to target violent offenders, drug traffickers, armed felons, and fugitives accused of perpetuating deadly drugs, gun violence, and increasing crime across district and state lines.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the FBI's Operation Spring Cleaning was a major success, resulting in 1,139 arrests, 984 firearm seizures, and 615 criminal indictments. The operation also included 1,474 joint operations and 586 search warrants, showcasing the extensive reach and coordination of the law enforcement effort.
The seized contraband included a massive haul of 509 kilograms of cocaine, 48 kilograms of fentanyl, 698 pounds of methamphetamine, 567 pounds of marijuana, 7.4 kilograms of crack cocaine, 38 kilograms of heroin, and 13,260 MDMA pills. The sheer scale of the seizures underscores the significant impact of the operation on disrupting the illicit trade.
FBI Director Kash Patel hailed the operation as a major victory, stating that such surges have delivered the most prolific run of crime reduction in United States history. He emphasized that these operations truly save lives and expressed pride in the agents and partners who executed them.
The operation also supports the Justice Department's broader efforts under a nationwide initiative to eliminate drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The FBI's commitment to rooting out crime and delivering results is evident in the success of Operation Spring Cleaning.
Operations were conducted across the country, including in major cities such as Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, and Sacramento. In one notable instance, authorities in Dallas seized $20,000 worth of jewelry and a Mercedes-Benz, in addition to drugs and guns.
