These aren’t isolated incidents, but symptoms of a larger pattern.
Tim Walz, hailed as an everyman, found himself criticizing his own country while stationed in Spain during a time of conflict. Jeffrey Epstein, despite his alleged abuses, was portrayed as a harmless eccentric. Sam Bankman-Fried, a billionaire with questionable ethics, was framed as a philanthropic genius. The pattern is unsettling.
Jussie Smollett’s fabricated attack was briefly positioned as a pivotal moment for racial justice, while the complex and troubled life of George Floyd was simplified into a narrative of innocent martyrdom. These examples reveal a willingness to embrace convenient narratives, even when demonstrably false.
Amidst this, a curious amnesia seems to grip the political discourse, with claims that the accomplishments of recent years have been undone, despite a clear record of significant policy changes. The current administration was, for many, a vessel for a radical agenda masked by a moderate facade.
