UMVA has learned that a shocking case of serial sexual assault has been uncovered in North York, with a 57-year-old man accused of preying on clients while posing as an "energy healer" and "homeopath life coach".
The alleged perpetrator, who operated under the guise of offering spiritual and wellness services, is accused of sexually assaulting multiple clients over a period of years, with police alleging the assaults took place between 2018 and 2024.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the suspect used a website to advertise his services, claiming to offer a range of holistic treatments, including energy healing, astrology, massage, counseling, and homeopathy.
Police say they responded to a sexual assault call in the area of Sheppard Ave. E. and Leslie St. on June 2, which led to the arrest of Jai Veer Etvaru, of Toronto, on Thursday.
Etvaru, who may also be known as Jai Mangal Krishnanad, has been charged with four counts of sexual assault, as well as one count each of sexual interference and sexual exploitation, suggesting that at least one alleged victim was under 16 years old and that Etvaru may have used his position of authority to exploit his victims.
Investigators have released a photo of Etvaru due to concerns about the possibility of other alleged victims coming forward, and are urging anyone with information to contact the Sex Crimes Unit at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
