UMVA has learned that a prominent Catholic exorcist has been expelled from his position following a series of public comments linking UFOs to demonic activity.
Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, a priest with nearly 20 years of experience as an exorcist, was removed from his role as an exorcist of the Archdiocese of Washington, Cardinal Robert McElroy announced in a statement. The move also severed all ties between the archdiocese and the Saint Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal in Washington, D.C., which Rossetti led.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Rossetti's comments were deemed to be at odds with the Church's teachings on the devil, demons, and exorcism. In a video posted on social media, Rossetti claimed that many UFO sightings are, in fact, demons that can manipulate the world and influence humans to do evil.
The video, which has since been removed from social media, sparked controversy and concern among Church leaders. Rossetti explained that his intention was to raise awareness about the potential dangers of demonic activity, but his words were seen as contradicting the Church's official stance.
Rossetti has since issued a statement expressing his sadness and regret over the archdiocese's decision. He asked for forgiveness for any ways in which he may have strayed from the Church's teachings and reaffirmed his commitment to obedience and ministry.
The St. Michael Center, which Rossetti founded, will continue its ministry elsewhere, providing spiritual education workshops and training for clergy and laity. Rossetti expressed gratitude for his time serving as an exorcist in the Archdiocese of Washington and thanked the archdiocese for its support over the years.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Rossetti's dismissal highlights the complex and often contentious intersection of faith and the unexplained. As the debate surrounding UFOs and demonic activity continues, many are left wondering about the role of exorcists and the Church's stance on these mysterious phenomena.
