On Wednesday at approximately 2 a.m, police in Marietta, Georgia, received a call from an 18-year-old victim who may have uncovered a human trafficking operation.
The teen told dispatchers she had been raped at the Hotel Weston on Kingston Court the prior evening.
During the investigation, according to Atlanta First News, detectives said they found evidence suggesting the suspect, Jaime Hernandez-Campos, 36, had also been sexually exploiting a 16-year-old girl “for an extended amount of time.”
Police said, “Based on the evidence collected and age of the victim, the investigation expanded to include human trafficking.”
The department said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit is assisting in the investigation.

Marietta police told Atlanta News First that on Tuesday night, Campos convinced the 18-year-old and the 16-year-old to go to dinner. Afterward, they were lured to the hotel, where Hernandez-Campos allegedly raped the 18-year-old victim in a bathroom.
Police arrested Hernandez-Campos Wednesday night on charges of rape, aggravated sodomy and trafficking of persons for sexual servitude.
Due to the complex nature of the case, Marietta police suggest there may be additional victims and suspects involved.
The department’s Public Information Officer, Chuck McPhilamy, shared, “We’re very grateful because her actions coming forward are what opened up this whole investigation.”
“This is involving a minor — this is the classic definition of human trafficking.”
