Ilhan Omar tells Trump to leave the United States

The White House Correspondents' Association dinner was marked by a sharp critique of Representative Ilhan Omar, delivered by former President Donald Trump. The event, held at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C., had been postponed earlier in the year following a security incident at the Washington Hilton.

During his address, Trump targeted Omar with a series of remarks that many observers described as harsh. He suggested that she and her brother were considering relocating together, citing a purported video in which she referred to World War II as World War Eleven.

Trump also criticized Omar for reportedly labeling her brother as “husband #1,” a comment he said demonstrated a lack of honesty. The former president’s tone was confrontational, and he urged that the individual he singled out should leave the country.

In response, Omar posted a statement on X, calling Trump an “idiot” and “low IQ.” She further claimed that the former president’s actions were damaging the nation and making it a subject of ridicule.

Omar’s tweet included the line, “The idiot who runs our country says this but doesn’t have the courage or evidence to come after me. This should tell you how low IQ he is, Trump is who needs to get the hell out of our country because he is destroying it and making us the laughing stock of the world.”

The exchange highlights ongoing tensions between the former president and members of the Democratic caucus. Both parties have publicly criticized each other’s statements in the weeks since the dinner.

Observers noted that the dinner’s rescheduling was a precaution following a gunman’s intrusion into the Washington Hilton lobby earlier in the year, a reminder of the heightened security concerns surrounding high-profile political events.

The incident adds to a series of confrontations that have drawn attention to the increasingly polarized nature of public discourse surrounding political leaders.
