UMVA has learned that President Trump has publicly congratulated Rep. Mike Collins on his decisive victory in the GOP Primary for Georgia Senator, and in a sharp rebuke, dubbed Senator Jon Ossoff "Os(jerk!)off".
The President's endorsement couldn't be clearer: Collins will go on to the general election in November to defeat what Trump described as a "pathetic failed Dumocrat Senator, Os(jerk!)off, who is a joke in D.C." The President's words reflect his unwavering support for Collins, painting Ossoff as a figure of ridicule in Washington.
Trump didn't hold back, stating that "Nobody even knows who he is!!!" and promising to host "Big TRUMP Rallies for Mike in Georgia!" - a clear indication of his enthusiasm for Collins' campaign and a hint at the energy he plans to bring to the general election.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Collins secured his spot in the general election by trouncing Derek Dooley, a candidate backed by Governor Brian Kemp, in a landslide victory. The polls closed just one hour before the race was called, with Collins winning by a significant ten-point margin.
This isn't the first time Trump has weighed in on the Georgia Senate race. Earlier, he took aim at Dooley, questioning his roots in Georgia and his voting record, saying "I don’t know Derek Dooley, and neither does anyone else... Unfortunately, he has lived outside of Georgia for most of his life, didn’t vote in 2020 or 2016, and said that I lost Georgia in 2020 when, in actuality, the facts have now proven that I won by a lot!"
With Trump's endorsement and rallying cry, the stage is set for a highly competitive general election showdown between Mike Collins and Jon Ossoff. The outcome remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: President Trump's backing of Collins has added a new layer of complexity to an already heated campaign.
