Filipinos' Holiday Travel Demand Stays High Amid Peak Season

Filipinos' Holiday Travel Demand Stays High Amid Peak Season

Filipinos are continuing to book international trips in preparation for the upcoming holiday season, a trend that has intensified as airlines reduce fuel surcharges.

The Civil Aeronautics Board announced that fuel price-related fees will fall to their lowest level since the Middle East conflict, placing passenger surcharges at Level 8.

Under Level 8, domestic flight surcharges will range from 253 to 787 Philippine pesos, down from 287 to 839 pesos. International fares will see surcharges between 835.05 and 6,208.98 pesos, compared to the previous 947.30 to 7,044.27 pesos.

Even with lower costs, major cosmopolitan hubs such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Taipei remain the most popular outbound destinations for Filipino travelers.

Emerging locations are also gaining traction, with Palau and Oman experiencing year-on-year growth of 663% and 482%, respectively. Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Australia, and Canada saw increases of 145%, 122%, 80%, and 67%.

Within Vietnam, bookings for Da Nang rose 483% year over year, while Hanoi grew 145%.

These statistics suggest that Filipino tourists are moving beyond traditional gateway cities, seeking a broader range of travel experiences.

Popular attractions driving demand include Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park Hong Kong, Universal Studios Singapore, and Universal Studios Japan.

The pattern points to a new generation of travelers who are confident, experience-oriented, and willing to explore beyond familiar destinations.
