Three alleged members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were wounded after soldiers repelled an attack on an Army detachment in Talitay, Maguindanao del Norte on Sunday night.
The Army’s 6th Infantry Division commander said troops returned fire after roughly 15 armed men struck the detachment, forcing the assailants to withdraw with their injured companions.
About an hour before the assault, a roadside bombing occurred near an Army outpost in Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao del Sur.
Local residents identified the wounded fighters and noted that one is related to a slain BIFF leader killed during a military operation earlier this month.
Authorities are coordinating with local officials and community leaders to prevent retaliatory strikes by remaining members of the group.
