This wasn’t an isolated incident. A year prior, on opening day 2025, Wu’s image appeared on the jumbotron, instantly triggering a similar wave of jeers so intense that the broadcast quickly cut away.
The source of the animosity stems from a series of controversies that have marked Wu’s time in office. Her outspoken pledge to resist federal immigration enforcement, particularly regarding potential mass deportations, drew sharp criticism from figures like former Border Czar Tom Homan.
