A chilling scene unfolded in Wembley on Wednesday night as a burning object was hurled towards Volant Media, a Persian media organization.
Authorities swiftly responded, leading to the arrest of three individuals – Oisin McGuinness, 21, Nathan Dunn, 19, and a 16-year-old boy – all facing charges of arson with intent to endanger life.
The incendiary device landed in the organization’s car park, where thankfully, the flames self-extinguished before causing significant damage. The perpetrators then made a desperate escape in a black SUV.
A determined pursuit ensued, with police officers in close chase. The getaway vehicle ultimately crashed in Ballards Lane, Finchley, bringing the flight to a dramatic halt and securing all three suspects.
While the investigation is being led by Counter Terror Police, authorities have clarified that this incident is currently not being classified as terrorism. It remains separate from recent arson attacks targeting ambulances in Golders Green and a synagogue in Finchley.
However, investigators are aware of claims of responsibility made by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, a group with reported links to Iran, for these separate attacks. The connection, if any, is currently under scrutiny.
