AIA PHILIPPINES Life and General Insurance Co., Inc. and its health arm MediCard Philippines, Inc. introduced a new group life insurance plan that incorporates health maintenance organization coverage under a single solution.
The product, called Group Life + HMO, merges MediCard’s HMO services with AIA’s annual renewable term life insurance, total and permanent disability protection, and accidental death, dismemberment, and disability coverage.
Company officials cited rising out‑of‑pocket healthcare costs, which increased 14% in recent years, as a key driver for the new offering.
Julian Mengual, chief executive officer of MediCard, said the plan aims to provide timely care and support for employees by consolidating services into one streamlined program.
Employers benefit from simplified administration, a single enrollment process, and unified billing, while employees receive comprehensive coverage through one provider relationship.
The plan is available to all businesses with at least five employees and can be customized for health coverage levels, premium amounts, and dependent inclusion.
In 2025, AIA PHILIPPINES reported a premium income of 12.296 billion pesos and a net income of 5.67 billion pesos.
MediCard posted a net income of 39.28 million pesos for the first quarter of 2026, a 75.39% decline from the same period in 2025.
AIA PHILIPPINES completed its acquisition of MediCard in March 2023, creating a combined platform for life and health insurance services.
The launch reflects a growing trend toward integrated employee benefits solutions that address both life protection and healthcare needs.
