A storm of accusations erupted as President Trump condemned a deliberate campaign of misinformation surrounding sensitive U.S.-Iran ceasefire talks. He announced a full federal investigation into what he described as a flood of fabricated “agreements,” lists, and letters designed to derail progress.
The President’s announcement followed a recently agreed-upon, temporary suspension of bombing in Iran, intended to create space for negotiations. However, almost immediately, a wave of spurious communications began circulating, threatening to undermine the fragile truce.
Trump directly challenged a major news network, alleging they amplified a completely false “statement” originating from an unreliable source. He claimed the network knowingly published disinformation linked to a website based in another country, presenting it as legitimate news.
In a direct message, Trump demanded an immediate retraction and full apology from the network for what he characterized as predictably “terrible reporting.” He emphasized that authorities are actively investigating whether the dissemination of the false statement constitutes a criminal act.
The network defended its reporting, asserting the statement came directly from Iranian officials and was corroborated by state media outlets. They maintained they received the information from known and trusted spokespeople within the Iranian government.
Undeterred, Trump confirmed the launch of a federal probe to identify the individuals responsible for creating and distributing the deceptive materials. He believes these actions are a calculated attempt to confuse negotiators, mislead the public, and ultimately sabotage the potential for a lasting agreement.
According to Trump, only one legitimate set of negotiation terms exists, and those are being discussed exclusively behind closed doors. He warned that any other “agreements” or “lists” circulating are fraudulent and originate from individuals with no authority.
He characterized the perpetrators as “fraudsters, charlatans, and WORSE,” promising swift exposure once the federal investigation concludes. The core principles guiding the U.S. position, he insisted, are reasonable and form the foundation of the current ceasefire.
Trump drew a parallel between the network’s reporting and the fabricated statement, highlighting a pattern of relying on unverified sources with no legitimate authority. He underscored the importance of maintaining the integrity of the negotiation process and protecting it from deliberate interference.
