A 19-year-old man from Ajax has been charged in connection with a firearms investigation in Pickering. The charges were laid after a search warrant was executed at a home in Pickering, where police found a Glock switch gun, drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect, Tuan Ubayd Badurdeen, was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a prohibited device, two counts of possession of a prohibited device, failure to comply, and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was being held pending a bail hearing.
At the time of his arrest, Badurdeen was on weapons prohibition conditions. Police are urging anyone with information on this investigation to come forward.
In a separate incident, a 41-year-old man from Hamilton has been charged with aggravated assault and arson after a stabbing incident early on Saturday morning. Police responded to a reported stabbing in the Mountain Eastmount neighbourhood and found a woman with minor stab wounds.
The victim was treated and is in stable condition. The suspect was arrested without incident and police are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities.
Another incident occurred in Hamilton on Saturday morning, when three masked men forced their way into a home in the Mount Butler neighbourhood. The suspects, one of whom was armed with a firearm, demanded money from the occupants before fleeing the scene in a dark sedan.
Police are looking for witnesses and potential security footage from the neighbourhood. They are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with their investigation.
