
A woman who appeared to be a victim of an abduction in Kansas last weekend was found safe and a man is in custody after police released video of the harrowing incident.
The Wichita Police Department said a homeowner shared the concerning footage Sunday night showing a woman being forcefully grabbed from behind outside a residence while she screams.
The homeowner, who said she doesn’t usually review her security camera footage, didn’t recognize the woman.
“Something just told me to look at it,” the woman, who asked not to be identified for safety reasons,told NBC News.
“And I normally don’t look at it and something told me to look and I saw it.”
Investigators believed the incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday, was a case of domestic violence.
“Your assistance is vital in helping us ensure her safety,” police said early Monday alongside a photo of the victimon social media.
“If you recognize her or have any information about her identity or whereabouts, please contact 911 immediately.”

VIDEO ‘GENERATED ADDITIONAL ATTENTION’
On Tuesday morning, investigators held a news conference wherevideo of the alleged abductionwas played. Hours later, police said a 35-year-old woman contacted investigators claiming to be the individual in the video.
“We want to thank the public for sharing the video and still images that generated additional attention about this incident, we do believe it led the female to call us saying she was the person we were looking for,”police said in an updateon social media.
Authorities said the woman, who lived in the area and was transported to city hall for an interview, didn’t have any significant injuries.
A 22-year-old man, who investigators did not name but said was the victim’s boyfriend, was arrested and faces charges of aggravated battery strangulation, two counts of domestic simple battery and criminal restraint.
