
A 39-year-old Scarborough man is accused of offering rides to females in Oshawa and then sexually assaulting them.
Durham Regional Police say two females were sexually assaulted after accepting rides and investigators are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.
In the first incident, officers responded to the area of Wentworth St. and Thickson Rd. S. in Whitby around 11:15 p.m. after a female reported she had been sexually assaulted on Aug. 17, 2024.
The female was in the area of Quebec St., in Oshawa, when she was approached by a man who “offered her a ride,” police said in a statement released Wednesday.
Police said the female was driven to an industrial area in Whitby where the man allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Similar accusation made
Then, on Jan. 12, 2025, just after 4 a.m., officers responded to the area of Victoria St. E. and Thickson Rd. S. – also in Whitby – after a female reported she had been sexually assaulted.
Police allege the female was in near Simcoe St. S. and Hall St. in Oshawa when she was approached by a man who offered her a ride.
The man allegedly drove her to the area of Moore Ct. and William Smith Dr., in Whitby, where he sexually assaulted her, police claim.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and made an arrest on Tuesday.
Ravi Tirbaney is charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Police have released a photo of the accused and images of a suspect vehicle.
