The early hours near Charing Cross station in London became the scene of a terrifying ordeal for a woman on September 20th. A man, now identified as Moustafa Elbohy, allegedly followed her after a brief, innocent interaction, escalating the situation into a brutal attack.
Elbohy was reportedly with friends at the station when he encountered the woman, who simply inquired about the language they were speaking. Despite his limited English, he immediately sought her name and began shouting, a disturbing prelude to the events that unfolded.
Witnesses state Elbohy physically prevented the woman from leaving, guiding her away from the station and her intended train. Her attempts to escape were thwarted as he steered her towards a nearby rooftop, isolating her from potential help.
The alleged assault was shockingly facilitated by technology. Elbohy reportedly used a translation app on his phone to communicate a horrifying proposition to the victim, uttering explicit and aggressive language.
Police allege Elbohy then forcibly removed the woman’s clothing and subjected her to a violent rape. Disturbingly, the attack is believed to have been captured by CCTV cameras, providing potential evidence in the case.
Demonstrating incredible resilience, the woman managed to break free, scaling a wall and desperately contacting a friend for assistance. Together, they reported the alleged crime to authorities at Charing Cross station, initiating the legal proceedings.
Elbohy appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where his defense attorney, Nimrah Ashraf, argued for bail, citing his struggles with depression, insomnia, and anxiety. She highlighted his claustrophobia, expressing concern about his well-being within a prison environment.
However, the magistrate, Simon Mansfield JP, denied bail, stating the severity of the allegations outweighed any mitigating circumstances. He determined no conditions could adequately address the risks associated with releasing Elbohy.
Adding another layer to the case, it’s understood Elbohy is contemplating an appeal against a recent rejection of his asylum claim. He did not enter a plea during the hearing and was remanded in custody, awaiting further proceedings.
As he was led away from the courtroom, Elbohy reportedly screamed in distress, fearing for his life in prison and pleading to be transferred to a hospital or alternative facility. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 26th at Southwark Crown Court.
