BUSTED: Criminal Empire CRUSHED Near Toronto!

A four-month investigation, dubbed Project Bayou, has led to the disruption of a criminal network allegedly responsible for a surge in both high-end vehicle thefts and large-scale drug trafficking. The operation, launched in January 2024, focused on a troubling connection between stolen cars and escalating violent crime in the region.

Investigators discovered a sophisticated operation targeting luxury vehicles through both traditional residential break-ins and increasingly common technology-based theft methods. These stolen vehicles weren’t simply being resold; they were allegedly being utilized in the commission of other serious offenses, creating a dangerous ripple effect throughout the community.

The impact of auto theft extends far beyond financial loss, authorities revealed. Stolen vehicles were reportedly linked to armed robberies, home invasions, assaults, shootings, and even homicides, painting a grim picture of the escalating violence fueled by organized crime.

The investigation culminated in the execution of search warrants on March 13th and April 24th, targeting residences, storage facilities, and vehicles in both Oakville and Toronto. The results were staggering, revealing the scope of the alleged criminal enterprise.

Police recovered an astonishing 23 stolen vehicles, collectively valued at over $2 million. But the seizures didn’t stop there. Investigators also uncovered a massive cache of illicit drugs, including 7.8 kilograms of cocaine, 37 pounds of cannabis, and hundreds of pills and tabs of other controlled substances.

Alongside the drugs and vehicles, authorities seized over $1.1 million in Canadian currency, as well as firearms and ammunition. The sheer volume of evidence underscored the scale and profitability of the alleged operation.

Four individuals – Vincent Tassone, Simon Cianciolo, Omar Darkhabani, and Shon Wickes – now face a multitude of charges related to drug trafficking and various other offenses. The investigation continues to unfold, with authorities working to fully dismantle the network and bring all those responsible to justice.

Charges against Omar Darkhabani were stayed by the Crown in April 2025. All charges against Vincent Tassone were stayed on Sept. 11, 2025, at the request of the Crown.
