WHITE HOUSE BETRAYAL: Ex-Al-Qaeda Leader Secretly Welcomed!

WHITE HOUSE BETRAYAL: Ex-Al-Qaeda Leader Secretly Welcomed!

A chilling transformation has taken place in the heart of Syria. Ahmad al-Sharaa, formerly known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani – once the notorious commander of the al-Nusra terrorist organization – now stands as the recognized leader of Syria, welcomed into the fold of international diplomacy.

The shockwaves of this shift are reverberating through communities across Syria and Iraq, captured in the raw emotion of rapper Osama Attar’s lyrics: “From a bounty poster to the velvet gate…the blood still seeps through the White House doors!” The outrage stems from a stunning development – a meeting between President Trump and al-Julani at the White House.

Despite never being elected, al-Sharaa is now being referred to by international media as Syria’s “president.” His past is a stark contrast to his present role; he once commanded extremist forces that seized control of the nation, and was deeply connected to both al-Qaeda and ISIS.

The central focus of the meeting was Syria’s potential inclusion in the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS. A swift outcome followed: the reopening of the Syrian embassy in Washington after over a decade of closure. President Trump publicly praised al-Sharaa as a “tough” leader he “likes,” promising U.S. support for Syria’s reconstruction.

For the Kurds in Rojava and Iraqi Kurdistan, this alliance is incomprehensible. Al-Julani’s history as a jihadist commander is well-documented, including a $10 million bounty offered by the U.S. State Department for information leading to his capture. He was designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in 2013, and his organization, al-Nusra Front, was labeled a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

The bounty was quietly removed in December 2024 following a meeting between Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf and al-Sharaa in Damascus. Shortly after, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the organization al-Julani led, was officially dissolved, its fighters integrated into Syria’s military and security forces.

The revocation of al-Julani’s terrorist designation, coupled with President Trump’s pledge of sanctions relief, cemented the shift. HTS was removed from the terrorist list, effectively becoming the governing body of Syria – a development met with disbelief and fear in Kurdish regions and beyond.

Attar’s lyrics echo the growing despair: “The same black flags that burned the town are folded neatly…but the graves still grow, and the dead increase.” The reality on the ground is grim, with a surge in attacks targeting civilians, minorities, and the very forces the U.S. once supported.

Since al-Julani’s appointment, Syria has witnessed a horrifying escalation of violence. Massacres of Alawite civilians in Latakia and Tartus, ambushes targeting Druze communities near Damascus, and ISIS bombings in Mayadin and Sweida have claimed thousands of lives. By mid-July 2025, over 10,672 people had been killed, with over 8,180 being civilians.

The U.S. is now legitimizing a government built on a foundation of extremism. Kurds and Christians in Rojava, who have relied on U.S. protection against Turkish aggression and ISIS, now face an uncertain future. As one Kurdish woman stated, “When we see the Americans drive through, we know we are safe….” That sense of security is rapidly eroding.

Lana Hussain, a Kurdish soldier with the SDF’s Women’s Protection Units, voiced a chilling truth: “ISIS will be happy with this radical government…because it’s their home.” She pointed to al-Julani’s origins in Jabhat al-Nusra and al-Qaeda, highlighting the deep connection between his leadership and the terrorist group.

Aram Hanna, a Christian soldier in the SDF, expressed his despair, fearing the loss of the progress made in Rojava. “We hoped we could share what we have built here with all of Syria, but it’s impossible…because of the ISIS people who are governing the country now.”

For those who fought alongside U.S. forces against ISIS, the current situation is a profound betrayal. As Attar’s song laments, “Oh irony carved in the halls of might—the victims cry while the carpets are laid.” The consequences of this alliance are only beginning to unfold, casting a dark shadow over the future of Syria and its people.
