A troubling paradox is taking hold in American foreign policy: a willingness to engage, even appease, nations actively working against our interests. This shift isn’t born of strategic calculation, but of something far more unsettling – a detachment from ideology itself, a belief that deals can be struck with those who fundamentally reject everything America stands for.
This “post-ideological” approach, as some describe it, has led to a series of concessions to adversaries. Trade agreements are forged with Communist China, sanctions are lifted for those funding global terrorism, and access to sensitive technologies is granted to regimes openly hostile to the United States. Often, the price of these concessions is investment within America, a seemingly pragmatic trade that masks a dangerous naiveté.
The core problem lies in ignoring the driving forces behind these nations’ actions. Whether it’s the pursuit of global dominance through Chinese Communism, the imposition of sharia law, or the ambitions of a globalist elite, the ultimate goal remains the same: the dismantling of American power and influence. These ideologies aren’t simply political differences; they represent existential threats.
This willful blindness has two devastating consequences. First, it emboldens our enemies, convincing them that weakness will be rewarded and that ultimate victory is within reach. They are encouraged to escalate their efforts, believing the United States lacks the resolve to resist. Second, it fosters complacency among our own citizens, leading them to downplay genuine threats and resist the need for decisive action.
The consequences are already becoming alarmingly clear. China is growing increasingly aggressive towards allies like Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan, even threatening to weaponize its control of rare earth minerals. Meanwhile, Wall Street continues to funnel capital into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party, directly funding their military buildup.
Qatar, bolstered by significant U.S. investment, continues to support a vast network of jihadist groups – from the Muslim Brotherhood to Hamas and the Taliban – and actively works to undermine American foreign policy. Its influence is expanding, unchecked and unchallenged.
Turkey’s security role in Gaza provides a strategic foothold for Hamas, placing it in dangerous proximity to Israel and threatening regional stability. This approval reflects a dangerous acceptance of Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s extremist ideology and nationalist ambitions.
Even individuals previously designated as major terrorist threats are being rehabilitated on the world stage. A former al Qaeda and ISIS leader, once carrying a $10 million bounty, has been welcomed as a partner for peace, his sanctions lifted and his legitimacy restored through high-level meetings. This legitimization occurs while his associates continue to perpetrate horrific violence against minority groups.
The “ceasefire” in Gaza has allowed Hamas to consolidate its power and evade accountability for its actions, effectively rewarding terrorism. Similarly, Iran is using the cover of negotiations to rebuild its military capabilities and reassert its totalitarian control, poised to reignite conflicts through its proxies in Lebanon, Yemen, and Gaza.
Even within our own borders, the implications are profound. A meeting with a newly elected mayor espousing Marxist ideals signals a potential acceptance of revolutionary activity and a pathway for similar candidates to gain power across the nation.
America stands at a critical juncture. We must recognize that engaging with ideologically driven adversaries without a firm commitment to our own values is a path to self-destruction. The time for decisive action is now, before we find ourselves irrevocably submitting to a world order defined by ideologies that seek our demise.
