A somber scene unfolded in Brampton on Saturday as homicide detectives launched a search for a 25-year-old man, Nicholas Jaglal, wanted in connection with his father’s death.
Police responded to a home on Clearjoy Street shortly after 3:15 p.m., discovering a man in his 50s suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the rapid response and efforts of first responders, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Jaglal is now sought on charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder, described as South Asian, approximately 5-foot-3, with a thin build and black braided hair. Authorities warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous, urging anyone with information to immediately contact 911.
The early hours of Sunday brought another incident to Toronto, this time a multi-vehicle collision near Steeles and Islington Avenues. A woman was transported to hospital with injuries that, thankfully, were not life-threatening.
However, the investigation quickly took a disturbing turn as officers discovered evidence of gunfire at the crash site. While no victims of the shooting have been found, the presence of firearms has prompted a thorough investigation and road closures.
In a separate incident, a 29-year-old man is facing charges following an early morning altercation in Toronto. The incident, occurring near Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue, resulted in a stabbing around 5 a.m.
Police determined the two men involved were known to each other, and the wounded man is expected to recover. The suspect was apprehended at the scene and charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and failing to comply with a release order.
