A shocking recording has surfaced, allegedly capturing a Campbell Soup Company vice president delivering a scathing and deeply offensive tirade against the company’s products and its customer base. The audio, released as part of a lawsuit, paints a disturbing picture of contempt from within the corporate ranks.
Former employee Robert Garza claims he secretly recorded Martin Bally, VP and Chief Information Security Officer, during a November 2024 meeting. Garza had hoped to discuss his compensation, but instead, he alleges he endured an hour-long rant filled with disparaging remarks.
The recording reportedly reveals Bally expressing disgust with Campbell’s offerings, stating, “I don’t buy f*ing Campbell’s products barely any more. It’s unhealthy.” He went on to question the ingredients, specifically expressing concern over what he called “bioengineered meat.”
The alleged comments took a particularly harsh turn when discussing the company’s consumers. Bally reportedly said, “We have st for f*ing poor people. Who buys our st?” The recording also contains deeply offensive and racist remarks directed towards the company’s Indian staff.
The revelation has prompted Campbell’s to place Bally on temporary leave while an internal investigation is conducted. The company insists the views expressed are “inaccurate” and “patently absurd,” vehemently denying the use of bioengineered meat in their products.
Bioengineered foods, also known as genetically modified, are permitted in the US but require labeling. These foods, including meat grown from animal cells in a lab, are a subject of ongoing debate regarding safety, economic impact, and environmental concerns.
A Campbell’s spokesperson emphasized the company’s commitment to quality, stating their chicken comes from USDA-approved suppliers and is raised without antibiotics. They firmly refuted the claim of using artificially grown meat.
Garza alleges he reported Bally’s comments to his supervisor in January and was subsequently terminated. His lawsuit claims the firing was retaliatory and accuses Campbell’s of maintaining a racially hostile work environment, seeking damages for emotional distress and economic loss.
The lawsuit details the profound impact of the alleged comments and subsequent termination, citing stress, humiliation, and emotional harm suffered by Garza. The case promises to shed further light on the internal culture at Campbell Soup Company and the circumstances surrounding this explosive recording.
