ICE Just Dropped $10M on Armoured Trucks – Here's What They're Hiding!

ICE Just Dropped $10M on Armoured Trucks – Here's What They're Hiding!

A Canadian firm, Roshel, is rapidly becoming a key supplier of armored vehicles to the U.S. federal government, recently securing a $9.7-million contract for 20 specialized trucks.

These aren't ordinary vehicles; they are Senator emergency response tactical vehicles destined for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The stated purpose: to support operations focused on immigration enforcement within the United States.

The Senator trucks are built to withstand extreme conditions, meeting NATO’s rigorous STANAG 4569 Level Two standards. This means they can endure attacks from high-powered rifle rounds, artillery blasts, and even significant explosive charges detonated directly beneath them.

This latest deal marks the fifth such contract awarded to Roshel by the U.S. government since the beginning of 2024, signaling a growing reliance on the Canadian manufacturer for critical security equipment.

Prior to the ICE contract, Roshel fulfilled a $6.2-million order for armored personnel carriers for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, an agency combating international crime and drug trafficking. Further contracts followed, totaling tens of millions of dollars for hundreds of vehicles.

The Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security also placed a significant order in September, procuring 25 Senator APCs for $8.2 million, highlighting the broad demand for Roshel’s protective vehicles across various U.S. agencies.

Roshel Defence Solutions, founded in 2016, quickly gained prominence with its Senator armored truck, designed for robust protection in challenging environments. However, the company’s ascent hasn’t been without scrutiny.

In 2023, a controversial $92-million contract to supply armored vehicles to Ukraine triggered a Canadian government investigation. Allegations surfaced of potential wrongdoing and bribery aimed at influencing Ukrainian officials to favor Roshel’s bid.

A former Roshel executive filed a lawsuit detailing “illegal acts” and violations of anti-corruption laws, claiming the company engaged in bribery to secure the Ukrainian contract. Roshel vehemently denied the accusations, launching a countersuit for defamation and breach of contract.

The severity of the allegations prompted the Canadian Commercial Corporation, the agency overseeing the Ukraine deal, to temporarily halt production while a thorough investigation was conducted. The outcome of that investigation remains a point of interest.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Ukraine contract, Roshel continues to expand its presence in the U.S. market, demonstrating the enduring demand for its specialized armored vehicles.
