The death of 19-year-old Brianna Aguilera, a Texas A&M University student, following a heated rivalry football game against the University of Texas, is raising serious questions. Found at the base of a 17-story apartment building in Austin, Texas, her death was initially ruled not suspicious by local authorities.
However, Brianna’s mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, vehemently disputes this assessment. She believes her daughter was murdered, pointing to inconsistencies in the police narrative and a coordinated story among those present the night of the game.
Rodriguez states detectives informed her Brianna’s death was either accidental or a suicide, resulting from a fall from the balcony. But she insists this is impossible, stating, “This was not accidental. Someone killed my Brie and gave all the group of friends a lot of time to come up with the same story.”
Adding to the mother’s distress, Rodriguez revealed a physical altercation occurred between Brianna and another female prior to her death. She claims to have text messages confirming the fight, yet feels these were dismissed by investigators.
The circumstances surrounding communication with her daughter also fueled Rodriguez’s suspicions. Brianna’s phone was inexplicably on “Do Not Disturb” and her location services were disabled – a direct violation of their established safety agreement. Rodriguez was forced to repeatedly contact the Austin Police Department to locate her daughter.
A particularly disturbing detail emerged: Brianna’s phone was ultimately discovered inside a friend’s purse, discarded in a wooded area. This discovery has prompted calls for a more thorough investigation.
Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, agrees. He believes the details surrounding the case warrant a “closer look” from Austin police, stating that the phone’s location and the “Do Not Disturb” setting are “not typical or consistent with just an accident.”
Rodriguez fears the worst, suggesting either Brianna was intentionally pushed from the balcony, or, incapacitated by alcohol – she was known to be drinking that night – and then hastily disposed of to conceal a tragic accident. She describes her daughter as frail and unable to handle alcohol well.
The Austin Police Department maintains there is “no evidence to suggest or support any suspicious or criminal circumstances” surrounding Aguilera’s death, offering condolences to her family and friends. They emphasize the case remains an open death investigation.
However, a definitive answer remains months away. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office has indicated that a full autopsy report will take at least 90 days to complete, leaving a grieving mother desperately seeking truth and justice for her daughter.
