MINIVAN MAYHEM: WILD CHASE CAPTURED ON CAMERA!

MINIVAN MAYHEM: WILD CHASE CAPTURED ON CAMERA!

The early Saturday morning darkness over North York erupted with a frantic chase as police pursued a stolen minivan driven by a man already facing significant legal constraints. A 29-year-old, prohibited from driving and currently on probation, allegedly ignited a reckless flight from authorities that would culminate in his arrest.

The entire harrowing sequence unfolded under the watchful eye of York Regional Police’s Air2 helicopter. Officers initially noticed a Dodge Caravan exhibiting dangerously erratic behavior near police headquarters around 2:40 a.m., setting off a chain of events that would test the limits of pursuit and endanger public safety.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver responded with immediate and brazen flight. Air2 took over tracking the vehicle as it sped through the streets, headlights extinguished, ignoring red lights and weaving unpredictably through traffic. The driver even dared to travel the wrong way on a major thoroughfare.

Video from the York Regional Police helicopter, Air2, captured the arrest of John Derick Saturnino, 29, outside of an apartment building in North York on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025.

The desperation escalated as the driver, at one point, pulled into a quiet residential neighborhood and brazenly attempted to steal a vehicle directly from a homeowner’s driveway. Video footage captured the suspect frantically trying to smash a car window, quickly abandoning the attempt and fleeing back to the stolen minivan.

Undeterred, the driver continued the escape, only to be briefly contained before breaking free once more. Officers then deployed a tire deflation device, successfully disabling two of the minivan’s tires. Sparks flew as the rims scraped against the pavement, a visible testament to the escalating pursuit.

Despite the damaged tires, the minivan pressed on, finally coming to a stop in an underground parking garage of an apartment building. The driver then foolishly attempted to continue the escape on foot, but was swiftly apprehended by waiting officers on the building’s lawn.

Video from the York Regional Police helicopter, Air2, captured a man fleeing from police as he hopped out of a stolen minivan and tried unsuccessfully to steal another vehicle from the driveway of a home in Vaughan on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025.

John Derick Saturnino, currently without a fixed address, now faces a staggering number of charges. These include impaired operation, refusing a breathalyzer, dangerous driving, multiple counts of possession of stolen property, numerous breaches of probation, drug possession, break-and-enter, mischief, theft, and flight from a peace officer.

The investigation quickly broadened, linking Saturnino to two prior commercial break-ins – one in Richmond Hill and another in Toronto. Investigators also confirmed the Dodge Caravan itself had been reported stolen in Toronto just days before the chase began.

Adding to the severity of the situation, Saturnino’s driver’s license had been suspended since 2023. This incident represents a clear disregard for the law and a significant risk to the community, culminating in a dramatic and decisive arrest.

Authorities continue to gather information regarding the events, urging anyone with relevant details to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
