COPS SURROUNDED HIM—His Final Words SHOCKED Everyone.

The man accused of assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson offered a startling claim to police: homelessness. This revelation came five days after the shooting, following his arrest on a fabricated driver’s license. His defense team is now fighting to exclude crucial evidence before the trial begins.

Bodycam footage, not yet released to the public, reveals a surprising moment during the arrest. Despite being surrounded by over a dozen officers, the suspect, Luigi Mangione, reportedly quipped, “Are you guys calling a couple more cars?” – a display of composure that contrasted with initial reports of nervousness.

The initial police call originated from a McDonald’s manager who recognized Mangione as resembling a person of interest in the Thompson murder, as identified by the NYPD. This sparked the encounter that would unravel a complex web of deception.

Officer Tyler Frye testified that Mangione insisted he was without a home and hadn’t recently been to New York. This claim was made as officers Frye and Joseph Detwiler approached him at the fast-food restaurant, meticulously documenting the interaction with bodycam footage.

Officer Detwiler requested Mangione lower his mask, and immediately recognized him from extensive news coverage of the assassination – specifically, reports on Fox News. Mangione then presented a forged New Jersey driver’s license bearing the name “Mark Rosario.”

The deception didn’t last long. Police quickly discovered Mangione’s real Maryland driver’s license in his possession. When questioned about visiting family, he reiterated his story of homelessness, firmly denying any recent travel to New York.

Both officers testified to recognizing Mangione from media reports and wanted posters circulating in connection with the high-profile case. The image of the suspect had been widely disseminated following the shocking murder.

The bodycam footage replayed in court captured the suspect’s nonchalant attitude even as the situation escalated. His sarcastic remark about additional police cars underscored a peculiar detachment from the gravity of the accusations.

Prosecutors allege Mangione meticulously planned the assassination, following Thompson to Manhattan and lying in wait before fatally shooting him in the back outside a Hilton hotel. The hotel was preparing to host UnitedHealthcare investors for a major conference on December 4, 2024.

Prior to the murder, Mangione allegedly used the false “Mark Rosario” identification to check into a Manhattan hostel, establishing a base of operations for the planned attack. This detail highlights the calculated nature of the alleged crime.

A year after the shooting, Mangione appeared in court, seemingly at ease and joking with his attorneys. His legal team is arguing that his Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights were violated during his arrest and subsequent detention in Pennsylvania.

The prosecution vehemently denies these claims, and legal observers suggest the defense faces a challenging battle in convincing the court to suppress the evidence. This evidence is critical to the case against Mangione.

Among the key pieces of evidence are the suspected murder weapon, recovered from Mangione’s backpack, and his personal journals. These journals reportedly contain scathing criticisms of the health insurance industry and outline the motivations behind the alleged plot to kill Thompson.
