BIDEN'S EPIC GAFFE: Forgets Press Sec's NAME at Pride Event! (WATCH)

BIDEN'S EPIC GAFFE: Forgets Press Sec's NAME at Pride Event! (WATCH)

President Biden recently appeared at an event hosted by the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute, receiving their Chris Abele Impact Award. The award recognized what the organization described as his historic championing of LGBTQ+ rights and the creation of the most inclusive administration in U.S. history.

The Institute highlighted Biden as only the third recipient of the award, emphasizing his dedication to full and open participation for LGBTQ+ individuals in American democracy. The recognition centered on appointments within his administration, specifically citing a Black lesbian press secretary, a gay Transportation Secretary, a nonbinary Department of Energy official, and a transgender Assistant Secretary for Health.

During his remarks to the gathered crowd, a moment occurred that drew attention. President Biden, while acknowledging his commitment to diversity within his administration, misidentified the name of his former White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, referring to her as “Kareem.” The incident was met with applause despite the gaffe.

Jean-Pierre herself had previously spoken extensively about the significance of her position as the first Black, lesbian immigrant to serve as White House spokesperson. She emphasized the historical weight of her presence, acknowledging the generations who paved the way for her opportunity.

The event also included another notable moment as Biden, while attempting to rally the audience, stumbled over the name of the country. He concluded his statement with a slightly altered phrase, proclaiming, “We’re the United States of Amerigotit!” leaving some observers questioning the moment.

The LGBTQ+ Victory Institute has long been dedicated to increasing LGBTQ+ representation in government at all levels. This award ceremony underscored their mission and the administration’s stated commitment to inclusivity, even as the event itself was marked by unexpected verbal slips.
