HIGHWAY HAVOC: Plow Driver's Mistake CRIPPLES Major Route!

A routine traffic complaint quickly escalated into a startling scene near Barrie, Ontario, as a snow plow collided with a highway overpass. The incident, captured on video, shows the plow approaching a bridge with its bed fully raised – a clear and present danger.

Police were alerted around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday to a snow plow operating with its bed in the upright position near Penetanguishene and Partridge Roads. The driver continued despite the obvious hazard, ultimately striking the overpass at the intersection of Penetanguishene Road and Highway 11.

Dramatic footage shows the plow impacting the bridge, becoming wedged beneath the structure. Snow then cascaded from the raised bed, spilling onto the highway and creating a chaotic situation for other drivers.

A 64-year-old Barrie man faces carefess driving charges after the raised bed on his snowplow hit a bridge in Oro-Medonte, Ont.,

Emergency services, including the Ontario Provincial Police, the Ministry of Transportation, and the County of Simcoe, responded immediately. For several hours, they worked to safely remove the vehicle and thoroughly assess the structural integrity of the damaged overpass.

Following a detailed investigation, a 64-year-old man from Barrie was charged with careless driving. Authorities have withheld his name, focusing on the broader implications of the incident.

This wasn’t an isolated event. Just months earlier, in October, a driver in Brampton faced similar charges after a raised dump truck bed struck an overpass on Highway 400. The pattern suggests a concerning lapse in pre-trip safety checks.

A Brampton driver, 32, has been charged after a raised box on his dump truck hit an overpass on Highway 400 on Oct. 17, 2025.

Two years prior to that, another dump truck collided with an overpass on Highway 404 in Markham, blocking lanes for hours. Each incident highlights the potential for significant disruption and damage when commercial vehicles fail to adhere to basic safety protocols.

These recurring collisions underscore the critical importance of thorough “circle checks” for all commercial vehicle operators. A comprehensive inspection before departure can identify and mitigate these preventable risks, safeguarding both infrastructure and the public.
