Kelsey Bainbridge is now facing a lengthy prison sentence after a night of shocking violence fueled by rage and fueled by substances. The case unfolded after disturbing video clips of her attacks surfaced online, quickly going viral and capturing the attention of authorities.
The initial attack centered around a woman who had fallen asleep on Bainbridge’s sofa after a night out. She awoke to a brutal assault, struck repeatedly in the head with a bottle of Lambrini. The motive, revealed later, stemmed from a baseless belief that the woman had been involved with Bainbridge’s partner.
But the violence didn’t end there. When the victim returned for her belongings, she was attacked again. The most disturbing details, however, emerged from the footage of the assault on Bainbridge’s former partner – footage Bainbridge herself willingly shared.
The videos showed a relentless attack, beginning with headbutts and punches. The assault escalated over three minutes, filled with accusations of infidelity. Bainbridge then shattered an ornament, using a shard to stab her partner in the neck and slash his face, delivering a barrage of blows.
Remarkably, neither victim wished to provide a statement to the court. Bainbridge’s own arrest was dramatic, apprehended while carrying a shovel and heading towards a lifelong friend’s home, heavily intoxicated and openly aggressive.
She vehemently accused her partner and friend of infidelity, using explicit language when confronted by police. Both individuals firmly denied the allegations, emphasizing Bainbridge’s state of intoxication, a combination of alcohol and cocaine.
In mitigation, the court heard of a deeply troubled past, a history of tragic events that had led to a period of self-medication and chaos. Her lawyer argued she was desperately crying out for help, a sentiment echoed in her pre-sentence report.
Judge Nathan Adams, however, delivered a firm sentence of two years and six months in prison. He acknowledged the influence of alcohol and cocaine, but condemned her actions, particularly the deliberate recording and sharing of the attack on her partner.
The judge emphasized that Bainbridge acted on a false belief, choosing to inflict violence on both individuals. The decision to broadcast the assault online was a particularly aggravating factor in the sentencing.
