COP LIES COULD FREE ACCUSED! Judge on the Brink.

The defense for Luigi Mangione, accused in a high-profile murder, has launched a fierce challenge against the evidence presented by New York authorities. They allege a pivotal piece of information – a statement attributed to Mangione’s mother – is demonstrably false and deeply damaging to his case.

According to the defense, police and prosecutors publicly claimed Kathleen Mangione told detectives she “could see him doing something like this.” This statement, repeated in press conferences, painted a disturbing picture of a mother anticipating her son’s violent actions. However, the defense insists no such statement exists within the evidence provided by the prosecution.

“That’s an absolutely false statement. That was never said,” declared defense attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo outside Manhattan Supreme Court. She emphasized that Mrs. Mangione actually expressed the opposite sentiment – an inability to imagine her son posing a threat to anyone.

A meticulous search of all discovery materials, including records subpoenaed from the San Francisco Police Department, has yielded no trace of the alleged statement. Despite this, authorities reportedly allowed the false claim to circulate for over a year without correction, potentially poisoning public opinion.

The case centers around the December 4, 2024, shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City. The initial connection to Mangione arose when his mother reported him missing to San Francisco police on November 18, 2024.

San Francisco police noted a resemblance between the missing person and a man pictured checking into a Manhattan hostel – a man suspected in Thompson’s murder. This information was relayed to NYPD detectives, who then interviewed Kathleen Mangione on December 7, 2024.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny previously stated that during this conversation, Mrs. Mangione didn’t confirm the photograph was her son, but conceded it was “something that she could see him doing.” This remark, widely reported, became a key element in the narrative surrounding the case.

The defense argues this crucial detail is fabricated, a distortion of the truth that has unfairly prejudiced the public against Mangione. They believe the authorities actively shaped perception with inaccurate information.

The allegations surfaced at the conclusion of a three-week suppression hearing, focused on the admissibility of a handgun, silencer, magazine, and a red notebook as evidence. Judge Gregory Carro is now reviewing legal filings and is expected to rule on May 18th.

Beyond the state charges, Mangione also faces separate federal charges in the Southern District of New York, where prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. A federal hearing is scheduled for early January, adding another layer of complexity to this already fraught legal battle.
