Stolen plane crashes into building at Los Angeles airport; suspect arrested

The pre-dawn stillness of Los Angeles was shattered Thursday when a desperate act unfolded at a local airport. Around 4 a.m., a suspect breached security, initiating a chain of events that culminated in a small plane crashing into a hangar.

Authorities quickly identified the individual as 37-year-old Ceffeareno Logan, now facing charges of burglary and aircraft theft. Logan allegedly trespassed onto the Van Nuys general aviation airport, gaining access to a Cessna C172 and causing significant damage in the process.

The single-engine Cessna never left the ground. Instead, while taxiing, it violently impacted a hangar, leaving a gaping hole in the structure and raising immediate concerns about potential injuries.

Dramatic images from the crash site revealed the extent of the damage. The Cessna, its propeller visibly broken, was later moved inside a building for further examination by investigators.

Law enforcement responded swiftly, taking Logan into custody without further incident. The FBI also joined the investigation, underscoring the seriousness of the security breach and the potential implications.

The incident has prompted a thorough investigation into how Logan was able to access the aircraft and the airport grounds. Authorities are currently working to determine if any additional individuals were involved in the unfolding events.

Van Nuys Airport, operated by Los Angeles World Airports, is now focused on assessing the structural damage and restoring full operational capacity. The crash serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities within general aviation facilities.
