PLANE PANIC: Terrorist Threat or Mental Breakdown?!

PLANE PANIC: Terrorist Threat or Mental Breakdown?!

A routine flight across the Alaskan wilderness transformed into a terrifying ordeal last week, as passengers aboard Alaska Airlines Flight 87 found themselves confronting a man seemingly lost in a desperate struggle with reality.

The flight, traveling from Deadhorse to Anchorage, became a scene of mounting fear when a passenger, identified as Kassian William Fredericks, abruptly surged toward the rear of the aircraft, making a frantic attempt to open a cabin door mid-flight.

A quick-thinking passenger returning from the restroom witnessed the harrowing scene – Fredericks violently yanking at the door, the handle already lifted. Without hesitation, the passenger intervened, grabbing Fredericks and initiating a struggle to subdue him.

Reinforcements arrived swiftly as two other men joined the effort, wrestling Fredericks back toward his seat. Throughout the chaotic struggle, Fredericks repeatedly pleaded to call his mother and requested a cigarette, his words adding to the growing sense of unease.

The incident wasn’t isolated. Prior to the attempt on the cabin door, Fredericks had reportedly shouted, “Stop the plane,” turning his gaze toward the back of the aircraft, a chilling prelude to his escalating behavior.

Witnesses described a disturbing pattern of statements, claiming Fredericks spoke of invisible forces attempting to seize control of the plane. His grip on reality appeared to be slipping with each passing moment.

In a desperate attempt to calm him, another passenger observed Fredericks consuming a pill and washing it down with Gatorade. However, the attempt backfired, and his behavior became even more erratic and unpredictable.

The pilot was alerted when a warning light in the cockpit indicated tampering with the rear cabin door. While opening a plane door at altitude is virtually impossible due to air pressure, any interference with the mechanism carries the risk of accidentally deploying an emergency slide inside the cabin.

Contacting ground officials, the pilot notified the FBI as the flight continued its journey to Anchorage. The situation remained tense, every eye on Fredericks as the plane descended.

Upon landing, law enforcement officers escorted Fredericks off the aircraft. Remarkably, he appeared calmer, a stark contrast to the frantic state he’d been in just moments before.

At the hospital, a police officer overheard Fredericks confessing to days of heavy drinking and experiencing vivid hallucinations, both visual and auditory. His words painted a picture of a man battling internal demons.

Fredericks now faces charges of interference with flight crew members and attendants, a crime that carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison. The incident has left a lasting impact on those who witnessed it.

The airline has taken immediate action, permanently banning Fredericks from future flights, a measure intended to ensure the safety and peace of mind of all passengers.
