During a live broadcast from Minneapolis, a prominent leftist streamer publicly threatened several right-wing journalists, including Nick Shirley and Cam Higby. The threats emerged amidst heightened tensions following an incident involving an ICE officer and a suspect attempting to evade authorities.
The streamer, who boasts nearly 90,000 followers on YouTube, detailed plans to aggressively target those he labeled “right-wing propagandists.” His statements included a clear intention to harass and track the journalists, even anticipating their security details.
“I’m going to harass the f— out of right-wing propagandists,” he stated during the stream, adding that security personnel would “have to earn their paycheck.” He specifically named Shirley and Higby, declaring they should be unable to move without their location being publicly known.
A clip of the livestream quickly circulated online, garnering over 100,000 views and sparking immediate concern. The threats were made while the streamer walked among a crowd of activists during the protest.
Nick Shirley has been the target of escalating threats since his reporting on alleged fraud within Somali-run daycares in Minneapolis gained widespread attention. This reporting led to investigations and increased scrutiny from ICE, and has resulted in disturbing messages referencing a previous act of violence.
Shirley recently revealed he’s been warned he could suffer the same fate as another individual, ominously referred to as being “Kirked.” He expressed disbelief and alarm at the intensity of the threats directed towards him.
Cam Higby has also experienced direct aggression while reporting. He was previously assaulted by leftists while covering protests at ICE facilities in Seattle, highlighting a pattern of hostility towards journalists reporting on these issues.
The streamer, an Army veteran and long-time Minneapolis resident, first gained prominence during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. He built a substantial online following by livestreaming from the center of the unrest, presenting his activism under the guise of “citizen journalism.”
His broadcasts often depict him immersed in activist circles, offering a perspective shaped by his strong political beliefs. The recent threats represent a significant escalation in rhetoric and raise serious concerns about the safety of the targeted journalists.
