TRUMP ON ALERT: Animal Torture Funded by YOUR Tax Dollars – STOP IT NOW!

A growing movement in Congress is challenging the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) use of taxpayer dollars, demanding an end to what critics call cruel and wasteful animal experimentation. Fueled by investigations revealing disturbing practices, lawmakers are taking aim at the agency’s $9 billion budget.

Recent discoveries have exposed a pattern of increasingly bizarre and painful experiments funded by the NSF. These include deliberately poisoning puppies with experimental drugs, inducing obesity in cats, and even creating transgender laboratory mice – projects that have sparked outrage and demands for accountability.

Representative Nancy Mace recently introduced a critical amendment that would prohibit the NSF from using funds for research causing pain or distress to domestic cats and dogs. This action builds on previous successes, including a recently enacted measure cutting funding for painful military experiments on pets.

The proposed amendment specifically targets Division A of key appropriations legislation, aiming to halt funding for any NSF project that inflicts suffering on common household animals. It represents a direct response to the shocking details uncovered by watchdog groups and concerned lawmakers.

Investigations have revealed disturbing details of NSF-funded projects, such as breeding kittens only to overfeed them and then subject them to weight-loss drug trials. Other experiments involve altering the genitals of rats and force-feeding mice cross-sex hormones, mirroring controversial treatments for humans.

The scope of the questionable research extends beyond domestic animals. The NSF has also funded projects involving injecting experimental drugs into puppies’ eyes and sourcing animals from facilities under investigation for animal cruelty. One particularly alarming case involved collaborating with scientists in Iran to drill into monkeys’ skulls.

Senator Joni Ernst has been a vocal critic, highlighting projects like one that spent $230,000 to determine if female monkeys showed a preference for males wearing red or green. She argues that such frivolous spending should be funded by private interests, not taxpayers.

Senator Rand Paul has further amplified the concerns, using his annual “Festivus Report” to expose millions of dollars wasted on absurd experiments, including the primate “Plinko” project – a $14.6 million endeavor involving drilling holes in monkeys’ skulls. He has even suggested the NSF should be entirely shut down.

The push for reform is gaining momentum, driven by a shared belief that taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund ethically questionable and scientifically dubious research. Advocates are determined to build on recent victories, including the closure of EPA animal labs and the end of animal testing within the VA and Pentagon.

This movement represents a growing demand for responsible stewardship of public funds and a commitment to ending what many consider a disturbing pattern of animal abuse within federally funded scientific research.
