A chilling plot, ripped from the pages of a villain’s playbook, unfolded on Long Island, New York, as Asif Qureshi allegedly targeted his estranged wife, Aleena Asif. Prosecutors claim the 53-year-old meticulously planned a horrific attack, breaking into her home with a deadly intent.
On October 17th, while Aleena was taking her children to school, Qureshi allegedly lay in wait. Upon her return, he reportedly ambushed her, forcing a rag saturated with a lethal combination of cyanide and sulphuric acid into her mouth.
The attack was described as utterly devastating by Nassau DA Anne Donnelly, a veteran of 36 years. She called it one of the most horrifying cases she’d ever encountered, detailing the agonizing way cyanide destroys the lungs with each breath.
The chemical assault didn’t just suffocate Aleena; it inflicted severe burns, scorching her face and searing her lungs. Donnelly revealed the unimaginable cruelty of the act, emphasizing the deliberate and horrific nature of her death.
Adding to the horror, prosecutors allege Qureshi intentionally left Aleena’s body for their children to discover. This cold-hearted act underscores the calculated malice behind the alleged crime.
The day unfolded with a deceptive normalcy. The couple’s 18-year-old daughter left for college, and Aleena took their 14-year-old son to school, unaware her former husband was inside the house.
