A quiet Sarnia neighborhood was shattered early Saturday morning by a violent escalation of a personal dispute. What began as an argument quickly spiraled into a harrowing ordeal, leaving one man fighting for his well-being.
Police responded to a disturbance on Afton Drive just after midnight, finding a 21-year-old and a 40-year-old man embroiled in a heated conflict. The situation took a shocking turn when the younger man allegedly drove a red Mitsubishi SUV onto the older man’s property, deliberately damaging an electric bicycle.
The driver didn’t stop there. Witnesses reported he exited the vehicle, brandishing a metal pipe before departing the scene. Investigators secured video evidence, initially leading to charges of dangerous driving, mischief, and breach of bail – but the suspect remained at large.
The same neighborhood became the scene of further terror just hours later. At approximately 1:46 p.m., emergency services received reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the same area.
Disturbing video footage revealed a red Mitsubishi SUV reversing aggressively, intentionally striking the victim. The driver then ran over the man, paused, and horrifically, reversed and ran over him again before speeding away.
Paramedics rushed the injured man to the hospital for immediate treatment. While currently listed in stable condition, the full extent of his injuries remains unknown, a stark reminder of the brutality of the attack.
The investigation was swiftly escalated to the Criminal Investigations Division, recognizing the severity of the incident. Hayden Leitch-Forte, 21, of Sarnia, now faces the grave charge of attempted murder, alongside previous charges of dangerous driving, mischief, and breach of bail.
Leitch-Forte is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing, as authorities continue to piece together the events that unfolded and seek justice for the victim.
