DENTIST MURDERS: Ex-Surgeon Named—Family Knew It All Along!

DENTIST MURDERS: Ex-Surgeon Named—Family Knew It All Along!

The quiet of a Columbus, Ohio neighborhood shattered on December 30th, leaving Spencer and Monique Tepe dead from gunshot wounds. Within hours, suspicion fell on a ghost from Monique’s past: her ex-husband, Michael David McKee. The investigation quickly revealed a man adrift, a decade spent moving across the country, seemingly unable to find solid ground after a remarkably brief marriage.

Their union, a whirlwind romance, lasted just seven months. Records show Monique filed for divorce in March 2016, citing “incompatibility.” The split was swift, almost clinical. Separate bank accounts, a division of possessions to “mutual satisfaction” – a stark contrast to the violence that would later define their connection. He kept the house; she, a sense of finality, or so it seemed.

McKee’s life after the divorce unfolded as a series of professional shifts. A medical residency in Virginia, followed by a vascular surgery fellowship in Maryland. He secured licenses in multiple states – California, Nevada, Illinois – a relentless pursuit of opportunity, or perhaps, an escape. But beneath the surface of professional advancement, a troubling pattern began to emerge.

A former coworker paints a picture of a “downward spiral” beginning in Nevada. Despite a lack of substantial experience, McKee was entrusted with complex vascular surgeries. One case, detailed in a lawsuit, raised serious questions about his capabilities. The coworker expressed disbelief, questioning why a surgeon so early in his career was given such autonomy.

“Why are you letting a guy that’s a year and a half out of fellowship…free rein to do these crazy cases?” the source wondered, highlighting a dangerous lack of oversight. Despite appearing calm and collected even under pressure, concerns about his surgical skills were apparently ignored, a reckless gamble with patients’ lives.

The trail to the Tepes began with a vehicle. Police identified a car seen arriving near their home shortly before the murders and departing immediately after. That car was traced to McKee, leading to his arrest in Illinois. He now faces charges of premeditated aggravated murder, accused of extinguishing the lives of a couple just weeks shy of their fifth wedding anniversary.

Spencer Tepe’s brother-in-law, Rob Misleh, stated the family “quickly believed” McKee was involved. He described McKee as emotionally abusive during their marriage, a chilling detail that casts a dark shadow over the past and offers a potential motive for the horrific act. The investigation continues, seeking to unravel the full story behind this tragic loss.
