The incident unfolded at Clancey’s Deli, where the men – casually dressed and seeking a midday meal – became the target of an online mob. An alert flashed on an anti-ICE Signal chat, falsely identifying them as plainclothes Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
One of the engineers, identified as Lee, explained the shock of the situation. A friend, politically aligned with the anti-ICE movement, received the alert and immediately recognized the location. The realization that they were being wrongly targeted was immediate and unsettling.
