A quiet Oshawa neighborhood was shattered in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday as flames engulfed a home on Bloor Street East, near Simcoe Street. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze shortly before 3:50 a.m., responding to a scene rapidly consumed by smoke and fire.
Initial reports indicated six people were inside the multi-unit dwelling when the fire erupted. Three men were quickly transported to a local hospital, thankfully listed in stable condition, suffering from smoke inhalation. The immediate concern, however, quickly shifted to a missing man.
Authorities are currently searching for a seventh individual, a man who was unaccounted for in the aftermath of the fire. While it remains unclear if he was present in the home during the incident, the search is underway, covering all possibilities.
