TRUMP ORDERS MINNESOTA TO BOW TO ICE—OR ELSE!

A direct and forceful conversation unfolded Monday between former President Donald Trump and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, centering on escalating tensions and a demand for unified law enforcement action. The former President, according to statements released by his team, insisted on a collaborative approach between state, local, and federal authorities, urging a cessation of what he characterized as resistance and chaos.

The core of the former President’s demand revolved around increased cooperation regarding individuals residing in the country without legal authorization. He specifically requested Governor Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to relinquish custody of all incarcerated individuals without legal status, alongside those with outstanding warrants or criminal records.

Beyond releasing those currently detained, the former President called for a standing agreement allowing state and local law enforcement to transfer arrested individuals without legal status to federal custody. He further demanded assistance in actively apprehending and detaining individuals wanted for criminal offenses, framing it as a path to restoring order.

The rationale, as presented, was that such cooperation would negate the need for direct Customs and Border Patrol support in Minnesota, allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement to function effectively alongside local police – a model the former administration claimed was successful in numerous other states. The phrase “let cops be cops” was repeatedly emphasized, suggesting a desire to remove perceived obstacles to law enforcement action.

Governor Walz publicly acknowledged the phone call, but offered a sharply contrasting perspective. While describing the conversation as “productive,” he asserted that information being circulated by the former President’s team was inaccurate and misrepresented the situation in Minnesota.

In a statement accompanying an opinion piece published in a national newspaper, Governor Walz argued that the federal presence had shifted from immigration enforcement to what he described as “organized brutality” against the state’s residents. He refuted claims of Minnesota releasing dangerous individuals, stating the state consistently notifies federal authorities regarding the immigration status of those in its custody.

Walz maintained that the Minnesota Department of Corrections has a clear policy of offering to transfer custody of non-citizens to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and that there were no documented instances of releasing individuals without providing that opportunity. This direct contradiction paints a picture of fundamentally opposing views on the nature of the situation and the appropriate response.

The exchange underscores a broader national debate regarding sanctuary city policies and the extent of cooperation between state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies. The former President has consistently advocated for stricter immigration enforcement and the elimination of policies perceived as hindering those efforts.
