ANTIFASCIST TERROR REIGN: Minnesota on the Brink!

ANTIFASCIST TERROR REIGN: Minnesota on the Brink!

In February 2024, a chilling act of political violence targeted my office in Montgomery, Alabama. An individual, fueled by animosity towards my policies and beliefs, detonated an improvised explosive device. Packed with nails and metal, it was a weapon designed for maximum destruction, narrowly missing causing catastrophic harm.

We were incredibly fortunate that day – no one was injured, and the perpetrator was apprehended. But the attack wasn’t an isolated incident; it was a symptom of a dangerous trend. A culture where political disagreement escalates into violence, disguised as passionate activism, is taking hold.

Alarmingly, many civic leaders seem not only to tolerate this behavior but actively encourage it. They rationalize unlawful actions by those who share their views, believing the righteousness of their cause justifies any means. This creates a climate where ethical boundaries dissolve and reckless behavior is rewarded with attention.

Currently, the focus has shifted to Minneapolis, where a large-scale investigation has uncovered widespread taxpayer fraud. A network, primarily involving Somali immigrants, allegedly obtained millions in government funds for nonexistent childcare centers. When federal authorities began enforcement, including a raid that tragically resulted in a death, local officials reacted with hostility.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey demanded ICE’s immediate removal from the city, and Senator Amy Klobuchar publicly declared that ICE makes the state *less* safe. This rhetoric, framing law enforcement as the enemy, is deeply irresponsible and dangerously inflames an already volatile situation.

It’s a pattern I recognize with chilling clarity. I’ve witnessed firsthand the consequences of such inflammatory language. These leaders are essentially granting permission for extremist actions, signaling to unstable individuals that any outburst, any act of intimidation, is acceptable and justified.

Recently, a mob stormed a church during worship services, forcing parents to shield their terrified children. They aggressively accused the pastor of collaborating with ICE. Disturbingly, former CNN anchor Don Lemon amplified this intimidation by livestreaming the event, legitimizing what was, in reality, a deliberate act of disruption – “Operation Pull-Up” – designed to confront and interfere with religious practice.

The response from many officials was predictable: downplaying the illegality of the mob’s actions because they claimed moral high ground. The media often labeled it a “peaceful protest.” But this is precisely what the FACE Act was created to address – using force to intimidate or interfere with religious freedom.

The irony is stark. The Biden administration has used this same law to prosecute pro-life advocates peacefully praying outside abortion clinics. The events in Minneapolis represent the exact scenario the FACE Act was intended to prevent.

This echoes the unrest following George Floyd’s death, which quickly devolved into riots, looting, and intimidation under the guise of social justice. Unchecked inflammatory rhetoric allowed entire neighborhoods to burn, causing immense damage and hardship, particularly for immigrant and minority business owners.

We cannot allow this cycle of chaos to repeat. The consequences are too severe. Restoring integrity to our systems, including immigration, requires accountability for those who exploit them. Bringing those responsible for fraud to justice is not simply a policy objective; it’s a matter of upholding the law.

Having survived a direct attack from those now mobilizing in Minneapolis, I can state unequivocally: extremist intimidation demands unwavering resolve. It must be taken seriously, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and met with every measure necessary to protect law-abiding citizens.

As a former chief law enforcement officer, I know that criminals, including those motivated by extremism, are deterred only by the certainty of consequences. It is the responsibility of all leaders to stand firmly for the rule of law and reject inflammatory language before more communities are terrorized and destroyed.

The stakes are incredibly high. Those in positions of power must choose: will they enable the chaos, or will they stand against it? My choice is clear.
