STEAM DECK UNLEASHED: 25,000+ GAMES NOW PLAYABLE!

The Steam Deck isn't just a portable gaming device; it’s a testament to the power of software. Valve’s meticulously crafted SteamOS, built on Linux, is the true innovation driving its success, quietly revolutionizing how we think about PC gaming on the go.

At the heart of this success lies the Steam Deck Verified system. This isn’t simply a label; it’s a promise. Valve personally tests each game, ensuring compatibility on the Deck’s unique hardware, and now, over 25,000 titles have been officially vetted.

Currently, 7,528 games are designated “Verified,” meaning they run flawlessly. An impressive 17,527 more are “Playable,” offering a smooth experience with minor adjustments. However, over 6,000 games remain “Unsupported,” often due to controller issues, demanding system requirements, or incompatibility with SteamOS’s core architecture.

The impact of Valve’s approach is undeniable. Microsoft, recognizing the value of clarity for gamers, has directly mirrored the Steam Deck Verified system with its own Xbox Handheld Compatibility Program, designed for devices like the Asus ROG Ally.

Considering Steam’s vast library – estimated at around 120,000 games and growing by over 20,000 titles annually – Valve has already assessed roughly a quarter of its entire catalog. While a complete evaluation seems daunting, the company strategically prioritizes new releases and popular titles.

Four years after its debut, the Steam Deck’s influence on PC gaming is profound. It single-handedly ignited the handheld PC market, leaving competitors like Asus and Lenovo struggling to catch up. Despite this dominance, Valve shows no immediate plans for a second-generation Deck.

Instead, Valve is expanding its vision. They are developing a Steam Machine, a hybrid desktop/console, and a new VR headset, the Steam Frame, signaling a continued commitment to innovative gaming experiences beyond the handheld realm.
